ABOUT THE PRINTS

Prints are sized at either 8"x10" or 5"x7" and giclee printed on luster paper with an 8-color genuine Canon ink system. They are fiinished with an archival protective spray to make them water and UV-resistant. The print is then matted to a standard frame size. (8x10" matted to 11"x14" and 5"x7" matted to 8"x10" unless otherwise indicated.) Special sizes and paper types are available upon request, such as cotton rag or reproductions on canvas.

Each print is custom designed and printed by artist Rebecca Block on O'ahu and ships to U.S. and Canadian addresses via the United States Postal Service with tracking and insurance. (Other carriers and options are available.)

All prints are scanned or photographed from original, real, handmade art that never has and never will involve AI. Rebecca has been creating art on paper and canvas all her life, and from the moment of the idea to the creating to the final printing, everything is done by a human. She scans or photographs each artwork into a computer, color matches it in Photoshop with skills she has acquired over the course of 30 years. She uses a color-calibrated computer screen and printer/paper ICC profiles, and creates a reproduction that matches the original artwork as closely as possible. 

Special sizes larger than 13x19" or on special surface types are outsourced to humans in the US who share Rebecca's high standards for color matching.

PRINT CARE

If you would like to make your print last a long time, please follow these tips:

  • Handle an unframed print by the edges of the mat, and obviously with washed hands. Try not to touch the colored part of the print itself. Oils in your skin can leave invisible marks that show up later.
  • Keep the mat when you frame them. Mats protect the prints from touching the glass. In heat and humidity, paper can stick to the glass, completely ruining the print. If you decide to replace the mat in the future, make sure it is acid-free.
  • Hang the print in a place that does not have direct sun falling on it throughout the day. UV light can quickly damage any piece of art, despite any measures taken in the printing process.
  • Avoid hanging your art in bathrooms and humidifiers. High moisture can cause the paper to ripple and mold over time.
